Several nobles may gather together for a hunt on the local baron's land. The favorite sporting event for the nobility was hunting. Petrarch, an Italian poet of the fourteenth century, called this time the Dark Ages. The end of the Middle Ages was a period called the Renaissance when there was lots of progress. Many of the traditions they celebrated would come from their local cultures and were different throughout Europe.
